About Chris Flow
Christopher Forehand, professionally known by his stage name Chris Flow, is an American rapper, songwriter, record and video producer, Louisville Hip Hop Legend, Pastor, and Recruiting Specialist. He holds the distinction of being the first rapper in Louisville, KY to record a rap TV commercial, and the first rapper to record and sign a record deal with his mentor, Kurtis Blow Krush Gospel. Chris Forehand also famously battled LL Cool J at White Castle's on 7th & Broadway, after which they shared White Castles.
Born on September 22, 1968, in Louisville, KY, Chris Flow has released records under Beforehand Records and Krush Gospel. His discography includes "Deal Gone Bad/32 Zone Records/Temptations Beforehand Records," "Kurtis Blow & The Trinity Just Do It CD," and "Kentucky Fried Faith Beforehand Records," among others. His notable videos include "Chris Flow 'We All Kinfolks'," "Chris Flow Gang Gang," and "Chris Flow featuring Trent G Trap Rap." He also collaborated with former DEFJAM artist Megan Rochelle on "Friend of Mine."
As one of the first locally well-known rappers in Louisville, Chris Flow Forehand, also known as Rockwell Cee & The Louisville Rapper, was an instrumental part of the Louisville scene, especially in the 80s. At the age of 13, Chris Forehand began writing songs in his New Burg apartment and recording them on a tape recorder. As he grew older, he would battle rap at school and in different neighborhoods.
After meeting Tony T. Fields and Bill Price while they were attending the University of Louisville and running campus radio, Chris began networking with the two and eventually recorded a battle rap song, also known as a beef record, against Roxanne Shawn Shante. This gave him notoriety and recording experience. Shortly after, Chris Forehand teamed up with White Boy Mike, a local Break Dancer and Graffiti Artist. The two would record "Tales of the Rapping Duke," a national beef record that battled the national Hip Hop song "Rapping Duke." This particular song was #1 on the only Black Radio station in Louisville, AM 1350 WLOU top ten show. Rumor has it that an MCA Record executive wanted to sign the rapper, but the deal fell through.
Chris Forehand would go on to reestablish the rap group The Louisville Rappers, a group first started by Norman Jones. The Louisville Rappers, including Dwight Romeo Cross, White Boy Mike Clark, and Chris Forehand, won all of the local contests, including the WLOU rap contest at Chickasaw Park; on that day, a helicopter landed and the legendary rap group Whodini presented the first-place trophy!
Chris Forehand later discovered Beat Box Shawn T. The two would film the first Rap Commercial in Kentucky for multimillionaire car legend Bob Montgomery. The commercial, filmed at WaveTV3 studios, won all of kinds of awards. The Beat Box, a rapper known as Rockwell Cee, also did commercials for Cross Pontiac and Matt Hubbard's Jewelry store.
Chris Forehand has opened for acts such as Kurtis Blow, LL Cool JAY, Climax, Heavy D, BB Jay, Ghetto Boys, and Donnie McClurkin. His collaborations include Derrick Bond, Kurtis Blow Ricky B, Gospel Gangsters, Megan Rochelle, Shawn T, White Boy Mike, Dwight Romeo Cross, Jason Clayborn, Sean Clayborn, and Trent G.
In 2023, Chris Forehand is a father of five: Todd Brown (deceased), Elisah Matthews, Micah Goatley, Chris Forehand Jr., and Josiah Forehand. He and his lovely wife, Katrina C. Goatley-Forehand, are looking to open the doors of "Amazing Praise Church of Jesus Christ," becoming the pastors by year-end. He is also a Recruiting Specialist at "The Spot" (thespotky.org). His movie and soundtrack contributions include "Plant a New Seed Movie" (actor) and "I'm Tired [Angel Camouflaged Remix]" which streamed 478,000 views on TUBI.
